The Berkshire Schools Partnership

This is a membership network for school leaders across Berkshire with a specific interest in whole child/whole school social & emotional wellbeing development.

The Partnership is currently trialling the Schools Profiler as part of a wider school improvement initiative – establishing local data norms that will ensure that the Profiler is tailored to the specific needs of each participating school.

Raising Children with Two Languages

Growing up with more than one language is becoming increasingly common. Research has shown that bilingualism offers many advantages for children’s development. For example, bilingual children in general tend to have a higher level of skills in:

• Selective attention
• Mental flexibility
• Language learning
• Plus all the benefits that come from experiencing more than one culture

Bilingualism Matters, a University of Reading initiative, aims to share accurate information and enable children, families and the wider community to benefit from bilingualism.

Flourish and Nourish will be collaborating with the University to promote the values and importance of learning a second language.
